Evaluation/ Reflection- Photography

To get to my final project I had to work on a photographer research. it was individual work and we had to choose 3 to 5 favourite photographers that we like, after we had to talk about their work, the difference between each other and what us like the work of that specific photographer. I chose Barbara Minishi and Steven Klein because they were the only ones that I found with an interesting work that made me inspired to work on; at the end I made a slide show of their work that I most liked and which later on I would be using it to reflect my future work on. I chose Barbara because she specializes in people, products and places. She especially loves taking her photos in all sorts of different locations and to travel all around. She believes that being out of her comfort zone in new environments, gives her the opportunity to create her art, which I agree and believe that working in a place where the atmosphere is pleasing (if it is related to what the project is about), it would be way more interesting to work on. Whereas Steven Klein is a contemporary fine art and commercial photographer. An in-demand and highly influential figure of the fashion industry, his photographs of models, actors, and celebrities are characterized by a sinister and enigmatic sense of dread. Klein's personal vocabulary of cinematic and pop culture references is evident throughout his work, often involving ideas of hypersexuality, ultra-violence, cyberpunk, biomechanical life, and bourgeois society. To come up with an idea I had to think of a theme and genre, so I chose a sinister and enigmatic sense, to fulfil that I preferred to use a black backdrop and focus on a dark atmosphere.
Doing a photographer really helped me understand more about photography and some techniques such as black and white photography which conveys deep emotion or drama, to do that I put the camera setting on monochrome.
